Alderney Street, Pimlico, GRP Flat Roof.

This installation of new Topseal GRP flat roof coverings and GRP balcony coverings was carried out by Advanced Roofing Solutions as part of a major refurbishment of a property in Alderney Street, Pimlico, London.

The natural slate granules were applied onto the newly finished fibreglass flat roof to provide an anti slip finish as grp, fibreglass flat roofs can be very slippery when wet. Providing a safe surface should any maintenance be required in the future.

The next picture shows the wall abutment vent running around the perimeter where the roof meets the brickwork. The new grp flat roof was a cold deck construction which requires ventilation between the insulation layer and the roof deck. The abutment vent has a fly mesh installed on top and then is covered by a new lead flashing (not shown).

Topseal fibreglass roof coverings are the perfect choice for tricky detailing that would pose problems to most other flat roof systems. GRP flat roofs are totally seamless, the polyester resins are applied onto the new roof deck, then the fibreglass matting is laid onto the saturated roof deck boards, more resin is added at the correct rate and an aluminium consolidating roller is used to expel any trapped air. Once sanded down and topcoat is applied the new fibreglass flat roof is ready.

GRP Flat Roofs should be the obvious choice where up stand details are present. We have replaced just about every other flat roof system that is not a liquid applied system. The joints are under stress as the rise up an upstand and this is where they fail. Topseal grp flat roofs are a resin roofing system with fibreglass reinforcement. The system sets rock hard, is totally seamless, requires no maintenance and will last years. After all its not roofing felt, asphalt or rubber that is used in boat building to keep the water out, its “fibreglass”!

Topseal fibreglass flat roofs can be installed in many colours, there are approximately 100 colours which can be chosen from the B.S.4800 colour charts.
